Dear Executive – If you do not have an Assistant you are the Assistant

Post on June 20, 2016 by

Not bad doing an assistants job on an executive pay scale. In the category of executive I include those with their own entrepreneurial enterprises. Pity about all the extra time the executive/assistant has to put in in order to be effective and efficient now days. That time just happens to be in the evenings or on weekends. No such thing anymore called IMG_3351work-life balance.

Nobody to share the workload because, in the case of most entrepreneurs, they did not appoint someone as they didn’t know who to trust. In most businesses some consulting firm or ardent financial type came along and got rid of assistants. Better yet they put all the
people with assistant in their title into a pool and preached that there would be cost savings and efficiencies. Pity they never tried it themselves. Having trust in a pool instead of a person that is. Stress saving does not seem to be in vogue.

So if you are wondering where your time went whilst changing the cartridge in the printer, arranging your travel, answering all your mails and messages, attending more and more meetings, responding to beeps on your technology, just look at what you are paid to do and compare it with what you are doing.

If you are doing you are not leading.
